Goitse, pronounced gwi-cha and meaning “come here” in Gaelic, is a five-piece band forged in the white-hot creative crucible of the University of Limerick’s Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. The internationally recog¬nized young group melds their own compositions and modern rhythms with traditional melodies and synthesizes them into a style of music uniquely their own. In concert, Áine’s sweet and charismatic voice draws audiences into the music while a grip¬ping rhythm section sets a breathtaking pace.
One of Irish music’s busiest bands, Goitse per¬forms extensively across North American and Europe and will complete a seven-week tour of China shortly before their Milwaukee show. They are also working on a third album scheduled for a 2014 release. The Irish American News called their second album, Transformed, “seamless, flawless and powerful, full of the humor and energy that the members of Goitse are famous for.”
Goitse made a return visit to Milwaukee Irish Fest in 2013 and was chosen to lead the fest’s finale known as the Scattering.
