BuaWMSE Presents BUA
The Chicago-based quartet comprised of some of American’s most talented young musicians, Bua brings the beauty and power of their critically acclaimed traditional Irish music in a return visit to the ICHC.

Brian’s evocative, award-winning singing, often in Irish Gaelic, is central to Bua’s unique sound. He is the only American to have won the traditional senior title at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in 2002 and is also an award-winning sean-nós dancer. Bua’s instrumental “heart,” Sean became the first American to win the prestigious Seán O’Riada Gold Medal competition in County Cork in 2016.

Known for a sophisticated and exciting fiddle style, Devin began Suzuki violin lessons at age 4, and at age 12, received an Illinois Arts Council Master Grant to study with famed Irish fiddler Liz Carroll. One of North American’s most sought after guitarists, Brian was recently awarded a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board to continue the Lost Forty Project which celebrates and makes accessible century old field recordings of Minnesotan traditional songs.
