Local/Live: April 28 – Gauss

Gauss is one of Milwaukee’s most underrated bands, and we’re thrilled to finally be getting them in the studio and on the airwaves. They’re essentially a post-rock/hardcore mixture that splits the dynamic up between atmospheric and lyrical, contemplative and abrasive, with a sort of nonchalant confessional vocal style reminiscent of Slint.

The band released its terrific debut full-length, Electromagnetic Fields Control Our Lives, about a year ago, and played a bunch of shows last year—including an impressive daytime set at Bread Fest in August. Just last month, gauss released two new songs on bandcamp, showcasing the addition of trumpet and organ to their sound, but without sacrificing any intensity.
