Live on WMSE: Call Me Lightning

Warming up now in the WMSE studios is Milwaukee rock trio Call Me Lightning. Drummer Shane Hochstetler, guitarist/vocalist Nathan Lilley and recently-recruited bassist/vocalist Tyler Chicorel are sounding pretty awesome and pretty darn loud. Catch ‘em when they go live on the air in mere minutes (before 1 p.m.) today on Dori’s show.

Dusty Medical Records of Milwaukee recently announced that they’ll be putting out Call Me Lightning’s long-awaited full-length When I Am Gone My Blood Will Be Free on July 20, 2010 on both vinyl and CD. Get a first listen to some of the new material if you haven’t had the chance to catch their live shows lately. The band still retains their spazzy power punk rock sound that got their city and beyond perking their ears up in the early 2000′s, and have morphed even further into following their namesake’s influence (their name comes from the 1968 song by The Who) of huge, ringing chords and massive drum builds. Call Me Lightning’s recent performance, opening for Israeli rockers Monotonix, was a compelling one, matching the spontaneity of their overseas counterparts. Listen live either at 91.7 FM on your radio dial or stream online at WMSE.org.
