Milwaukee indie rock band I’m Not a Pilot takes its name from frontman Mark Glatzel’s musings on the idea of the control, or lackthereof, that one has over life. With intricately melodic songs about this uncertainty, Mark, with brother Matthew Glatzel on bass, drummer Steve Vorass Jr. and cellist Peter Thomas, the group pulls off dark lyrical content by adding warm vocal melodies and rich instrumental harmonies. Voted ‘best rock band for 2010 and 2011’ by the Shepherd Express, I’m Not a Pilot has found an appreciative audience between traditional indie music fans and classical music aficionados with their unique compositions.

Join WMSE for the second Local/Live, live from Todd Wehr Conference Center event – the segment is free and open to the public on Tuesday, April 15th. Doors are at 5:30pm, segment starts at 6pm. Stick around for an additional thirty minute set from the band and if you can’t make it in person, tune in at 91.7 FM or WMSE.org – live, or in the archives.
