Bob Mould Band will headline WMSE’s Backyard BBQ at Humboldt Park on August 26

WMSE 91.7FM, Milwaukee’s only free-form, community-supported radio station, is thrilled to announce Bob Mould Band (legendary artist, and founding member of HüskerDü) will headline its annual Backyard BBQ concert event on August 26 at Humboldt Park in Bayview. Since 2010, WMSE has hosted the Backyard BBQ, a free music festival that serves as a thank-you to listeners, supporters, and the community.

“WMSE has been on the air for more than 40 years. We owe our listeners, supporters, and the city of Milwaukee heaps of gratitude, which is why we had to go big this year,” said Station Manager Tom Crawford. “Bob Mould is a pioneer and a genius. He influenced Nirvana, the Pixies, Green Day, and the Foo Fighters. I couldn’t be more proud that he has agreed to play the Backyard BBQ this year.”

Presented by Lakefront Brewery, the 13th Annual Backyard BBQ musical lineup features:
WMSE Chillosophy DJ Tony Myers – noon to 1 p.m. and in-between sets
Chicken Wire Empire – 1 p.m.
Girls Rock Milwaukee – 2:25 p.m.
Telethon – 3:50 p.m.
Esso – 5:15 p.m.
Bob Mould Band
– 6:45 p.m.

This year’s food vendor lineup features an array of mouthwatering options from some of Milwaukee’s finest eateries. Fuel Café, Pizza Ortolana, JMakin Jamaican Kitchen & Grill,  Rot’s Hots, Twisted Plants,  Ventura’s Tacos,  Roll MKE,  Pete’s Pops, and  T.Best Kettle Corn Co.

The Backyard BBQ provides a full day of summer fun for the whole family with live music, food trucks, activities, and cold local craft beer.

“As if Bob Mould Band wasn’t enough, Esso, an Afrojam funkbeat band from Chicago, will get everyone on their feet. Wisconsin power punk superstars Telethon will bring the noise. Girls Rock will inspire, and Chicken Wire Empire will generate spontaneous toe-tapping,” adds Music Director Sid McCain. “This incredible lineup reflects how much we love our community. I know it’ll be a memorable day,”

WMSE’s Backyard BBQ is made possible thanks to the support of Lakefront Brewery, Direct Supply, Ticket King, Cafe Corazon, Fuel Cafe, Brady Street Futon, MSOE, and Milwaukee Parks.
