acoustic in-studio + interview: Scott Wooldridge
Scott Wooldridge is a Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter who is a founding member of the Wooldridge Brothers, of Milwaukee.
“Sixteen years after Scott Wooldridge left Milwaukee for the colder climes of Minneapolis, he returns to Shank Hall to celebrate the release of his first solo album.
“Scott led the Wooldridge Brothers for more than a decade in Milwaukee, recording six albums with that group and pioneering the alt-country sound in shows throughout the Midwest. Although the WBs are still performing and recording, Scott’s move to the Twin Cities led him to explore a more acoustic sound, and his album reflects that new focus.
“With a healthy dose of mandolin, pedal steel guitar, some fiddle and viola, plus Scott’s acoustic guitar and electric piano, the album sets a new musical course while maintaining his unique lyrical perspective. Among the songs are tales of middle class meltdowns, star-crossed politics, and coffee-shop (dis)connections. For this tour, Scott is joined by the two musicians he’s been working with in Minneapolis: Sloan Hamilton on mandolin, and Josh Braun on pedal steel guitar.
“2015 will be a busy year for Scott, as he follows up a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign with not only the release of the solo album, but a new Wooldridge Brothers album, which is slated to be released later in 2015.”
Welcome Scott back to Milwaukee as he visits WMSE for an acoustic set at 3:30pm and plays Shank Hall later that evening.
