Tune into WMSE to hear all the latest news from Chicago’s Lowdown Brass Band who are in town for a show at Anodyne.

Not your typical brass ensemble (is there such a thing at this late date?), Chicago’s Lowdown Brass Band may be the only such unit to feature an MC, South Sider Anthony “Billa Camp” Evora, AND cover Ozzie Osbourne (“Death Blow,” anyone?). Evora brings a tough Chi Town sensibility to the hip-hop, rock and skate culture influences of his native New York. The LDB, as it’s known, animates its sound with New Orleans march beats and reggae rhythms. Eleven-members strong, the band includes Dave Levine, Chris Neal and Lance Loiselle on saxophone; Shane Jonas and Sam Johnson on trumpet; Andrew Zelm, Raphael Crawford and Steve Duncan on trombone; John Barbush on trap drums, and Michael Agust on marching bass drum and cymbal.
