Volcanos began in the latter half of 2014, when Russell, Chris and Jim (who had been playing together in the Black Sabbath tribute ‘Hand of Doom’) felt the call to create original material together again. Chris and Jim had already worked together in ‘Xolotl’, and had known Russell for years from his work in ‘Irock-Z’, and the chemistry was immediate. Wanting a classic rock setup, Nic was called in for frontman duty and writing commenced.

‘Organic’ would be the word to best describe our intentions. Our influences span a wide grid on individual levels, but when playing together they solidify. Heavy Rock with a solid beat will always be our first love, and together it’s what makes sense, and feels the best. Nothing beats the visceral punch of rock and roll catharsis, and the rush of adrenaline a solid groove can give. Influences that shine through most range from Bad Brains to Scratch Acid to Hendrix to Black Flag to the Minutemen.

Regardless of influence, we’ve all agreed not to limit ourselves to a particular sound, and as we continue to write our sound is widening out, with the intention to write each song as its own individual world, with no reference to its brothers. We will be recording a batch this April at Howl st Studios, with a summer release planned, along with a batch of live performances along the way.

This truly is a band of brothers, Nic and Chris being born 10 months apart, Jim being a longtime friend and now brother-in-law to the two, and Russell having been a friend to all three for years. This closeness lends itself to our music, as we have no boundaries on honesty or immediate likes/dislikes. Musical honesty and organic growth are what we strive for, both for ourselves and our audience. We mean to open our souls up, and hopefully help our audience do the same.
