On Sunday, May 21st, Robert Szocik chats with Joe McPhee on WMSE’s Alternating Currents, discussing the music and influences of Ornette Coleman along with some personal experiences from the 1960’s including his attendance at John Coltrane’s funeral with Ornette.
Ken Vandermark also joins the interview and shares how Ornette has influenced his own music as well. Joe will share details of his upcoming show in Milwaukee, “Survival Unit III”, taking place on May 30th at The Sugar Maple (which will be a personal tribute to Ornette Coleman’s music for strings).
